Birthday Extravaganza!

I told Sev I didn't want to cook all weekend for my birthday, so we started our weekend at my favorite German food cart at our farmer's market. This is after we devoured our breakfast!

That evening was my birthday party, so we had a very nice dinner with Australian sparkling Merlot before the party started. I believe I was making an obscene gesture here, but luckily it's blurry!

The wine helped us lose track of time at dinner and by the time we got to the party everyone was already there! Sev planned the most wonderful birthday party I could have imagined at a dance club with an amazing view as you can see here.

We took advantage of the view for a photo shoot.

Sev saw us girls and couldn't resist the temptation to get a picture with all of us!

My amazing Aussie amigas (and Kiwi and Fijian and Indian)!

 Anna and Kannaki

I got to wear a badge all night announcing my birthday status!

Sesh and Kannaki

 Anna and Charles

Sev brought party favors such as the stylish hat he displays here. I was very impressed with his party planning abilities!

Kellie and Andrew. Poor Andrew couldn't join us on the dance floor as he has an ankle injury that has relegated him to crutches!

Party planner extraordinaire getting my homemade birthday cake ready! I specially requested all 30 candles.

This is the last time I'll let Charles near my birthday cake - he ate all the leftovers even though I told him not to! You can see him eyeing my cake in this photo.

After birthday cake we moved inside to the dance floor:

Somehow I acquired a sash from a hen's night (Aussie for bachelorette party)...

Charles had to dance off the half cake he just ate.

The party from which I stole the sash is apparently directly behind us.

This is my favorite photo ever. Perfectly sums up the theme of my birthday - "I'm 30 but look and act 21"!

Sev singing? Or am I choking him?

While I fully plan on lying about my age from now on, I'm disappointed to admit that I did not party like I was 21 at my birthday party - I think we went home at about midnight. I guess I have grown up a little in the last few years!

On the evening of my actual birthday we went to Korean barbecue with friends.

Row lived in Korea for a year so she helped us choose what to eat!

I've never seen a Korean barbecue restaurant in the states, but they're pretty common in Brisbane. They bring a little pot of hot coals and you barbecue your own food at the table. Sev cooked all my food for me so I could relax and enjoy being the birthday girl!
