Bringing Halloween Down Under!

Halloween is mostly a holiday celebrated by Americans, so we brought the tradition to our new friends in Brisbane with a Halloween party! I feel so sad for my Aussie friends who have never gone trick-or-treating or carved a pumpkin! This is my work crew - Megan, Flick, Kellie, Rowena, Alea, Jess, and James.

These are Sev's colleagues - Sesh, Sean, and Charles. Don't worry, Charles stuffed his Spiderman suit!

We made some treats for the party in advance, and Sev wove a puff pastry tapestry.

We had zombie boogers caramel corn (which I learned is quite easy to make), mummy wrap sausages, witch's fingers cookies, maggot cupcakes, and blended zombie punch.

The witch's fingers were my pride and joy! Not being a very artistic person, this is as good as it gets with me! The vampire punch is to the right. The dripping blood was fun until it got in my hair, and Quita's fur for that matter!

We only had one accident during the evening.

Flick is trained as a chef and made the maggot cupcakes! They were so realistic looking I almost didn't want to eat them!

The candles made for a nice Halloween ambiance!

We had Sookie Stackhouse from the TV show True Blood, Wednesday Addams, Spiderman, Police Woman Jess, Popeye, and a ninja.

We also had Father Thomas and his wife the vampire. Officer Jess baptized Father Thomas at least twice throughout the evening.

Apparently Spiderman brought some illegal party favors, and luckily Jess caught him!

James was a hunter...

And naturally, I was his prey.

Spiderman did some ceiling scaling.

Then the ninja showed off her skills.

More ninja skillwork.

Milli Vanilli was in attendance.

And they taught me some dance moves from the 90's.

Alea carved her second pumpkin of her life, with our tutelage. We only spilled 3 drinks and broke one knife while carving the pumpkin! Luckily Quita was there to clean up everything that was dropped.

Alea's pumpkin design!

I got shot in the head by James at one point! Can you spot the ninja here?

Quita was James' hunting dog.

We tried finding her a costume but dogs down under haven't starting dressing up for Halloween yet, so she wore Spiderman's mask for a short time.

She spent the evening chomping on food and licking drinks that people dropped! I saw her eat two whole donuts that fell from our donut eating contest as well as part of a cupcake with the wrapper still on it.

Most of the people told us that this was the first Halloween party they had been to!

Alea single-handedly started a dance party in the living room.

No dance party is complete without Gangnam Style. I've been out of the states four times for Halloween, and this was the best one yet!
